Candle Burning Tips and Safety

Extend the life of your beautiful candles ..heres some safety guidelines to keep your home safe and tips to keep your candles looking gorgeous.

Do not attempt to handle or remove the crystals from the candle when the wax is hot or whilst lit.  As the wax liquifies on the first burn the crystals will gently glide beneath the wax.  Our crystals are carefully placed away from the wick so that they do not effect the burn.  Your candle will burn beautifully all the way to the edge. 

Never leave a lit candle unattended ,  keep away from children, pets curtains and loose fabrics and out of draughts. Avoid being close to fans, air conditioners , heat pumps.  

Do not burn in children's bedrooms.

Always burn on a heat resistant surface ie a coaster.

Do not touch or move a candle while its burning or while the wax is liquified. 

Do not touch or move a candle until its completely cooled.

Don't burn when young children are around.

Never leave a burning candle unattended.

Do not go to sleep whilst a candle it burning.

Don't burn a candle all the way down.  For safety allow 1inch of wax in the container.

1). The first burn is the most important.  Allow the wax to melt to the edges of the vessel every time this avoids tunnelling.   If the candle isn't burnt for long enough it will create a "memory ring" and each subsequent burn it will continue to tunnel down for the rest of its life,  wasting your candles maximum burn time. 

Let your candle cool and reset for about two hours before beginning another burn.

2)  Trim the wick before every burn - before lighting, trim the wick to 1/4 inch using scissors or a wick trimmer for a clean safe burn & increased candle lifespan.

Wicks that are left untrimmed can become to long and can cause uneven burning, it will likely 'mushroom' causing smoking & flaring .  

Your candle will burn up to  25% longer if you trim it after each burn.

2). Allow the wax to melt to the edges of the vessel every time this avoids tunnelling. 

3) Do not burn your candle for longer than 3 hours at a time.

We offer $12 flat-rate shipping throughout New Zealand, or FREE shipping when you spend over $134.

Orders are dispatched within 24 hours, Monday–Friday, and sent via tracked NZ Post. Please allow up to 4 working days for delivery, although orders will often arrive sooner. Rural deliveries may take a little longer.

While we do our best to get your order to you as quickly as possible, delivery timeframes cannot be guaranteed. Occasionally couriers experience unexpected delays due to weather, airport closures, Cook Strait crossings or other disruptions outside our control.

Every order is tracked, and your tracking details will be emailed to you once your LightSeed is on its way, so you can follow its journey to your door.

Please note, we cannot deliver to PO Boxes.

Where possible, please make sure your courier has access to a safe, dry place to leave your parcel, protected from sight and wet weather.

Every LightSeed is carefully packaged to protect it on its journey to you, so it arrives safely and ready to enjoy — or gift.

Sending a Gift?

Absolutely. We don't include invoices or pricing information with orders unless requested, so your LightSeed can be sent directly to the recipient.

If you'd like us to include a handwritten gift note, add your message at checkout. If you've already placed your order and forgotten the note, email hello@lightseed.co.nz as soon as possible and we'll do our best to add it before your order leaves us.

Changed Your Mind?

We want you to love your LightSeed. If you've changed your mind about your purchase, you can return or exchange it within 14 days of receiving your order, provided it is unused, unburnt and returned in its original condition and packaging.

Please email hello@lightseed.co.nz before sending anything back so we can arrange your return.

For change-of-mind returns, the customer is responsible for return postage. Original shipping costs are non-refundable.

If you're exchanging your LightSeed for another product or fragrance, you'll also be responsible for the shipping cost of sending the replacement to you.

Sale items and gift cards cannot be returned or exchanged for change of mind.

Damaged, Faulty or Incorrect Order?

If something isn't right with your order, please let us know as soon as possible.

Email hello@lightseed.co.nz with your order details and a photo of the damaged, faulty or incorrect item, and we'll work with you to put it right.

Your rights under the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act are not affected by our returns policy.

Refunds

Once we've received and inspected an eligible change-of-mind return, we'll let you know and process your refund to your original payment method.

Please allow some additional time for your bank or credit card provider to process the refund.

The LightSeed Candle Ritual

There is no one right way to enjoy your LightSeed.

Light it simply because you love the scent and the way it makes your space feel. Light it for a moment of quiet. Light it when you need clarity. Light it to honour or remember someone you love. Or light it for something you’re ready to change, welcome, call in or move towards.

Sometimes a candle is simply a candle. And sometimes, lighting one becomes something more.

Each LightSeed brings together fragrance, crystals and intention, chosen to work in harmony with the purpose of the candle. Every candle also includes an affirmation, invocation or meditation to use as part of your ritual — you can make the words entirely your own, or simply let the flame hold your attention for a while.

Keep it simple, or make it your ritual.

Begin

Find a moment when you won’t be interrupted.

Light your candle. Take a slow breath. Let your eyes rest on the flame and allow yourself to arrive in the moment.

You don’t need to clear your mind or do anything perfectly. Just be here.

Choose Your Intention

What are you calling in?

What are you ready to shift?

How do you want your space to feel?

Get clear on what you want. It might be love, protection, courage, abundance, clarity, healing, change — or something entirely your own.

Your intention doesn’t need to sound profound. It just needs to mean something to you.

Speak It

There’s power in hearing yourself give words to something you want, need or are ready for.

Use the affirmation or invocation included with your LightSeed, or speak your own words.

Say them with conviction.

Speak it. Believe it. Feel it. Visualise it.

Affirmation or Invocation?

Both give voice to intention, but they do it differently.

An affirmation speaks from within. It puts into words something you choose to believe, embody or move towards — I am worthy of love. I trust myself. I am ready.

An invocation calls something forward. It invites an energy, quality or intention into the space you’re creating.

One of the invocations included with our Jar of Light Protect & Clear Candle, for example, begins:

“By the light of this flame, I cast an aura of divine protection.”

Use the words included with your LightSeed if they resonate. Change them. Write your own. There are no rules here.

The words need to mean something to you.

See It

Close your eyes and imagine your intention already in motion.

What does it look like?

More importantly, what does it feel like?

Let yourself experience that feeling for a moment. You’re giving your intention somewhere to land beyond the words.

Write It

Put it on paper.

Writing your intention gives you something tangible to return to. Keep it in a journal, beside your candle or somewhere only you know about.

Write what you want. Write how it would feel. Write as much or as little as you need.

Release It

You’ve named it. You’ve spoken it. You’ve felt it.

Now trust it — and stay open to what comes next.

Setting an intention isn’t about making a wish and waiting for it to land. Pay attention to what shows up. A conversation, an idea, an opportunity, a change in direction — sometimes the next step arrives quietly.

You don’t need to control exactly how or when your intention unfolds. But when something asks you to move, be willing to follow it.

The next time you light your LightSeed, come back to your intention.

Maybe nothing has changed.

Maybe everything has.

Notice what has shifted — around you, within you, or simply in the way you’re seeing things.

Then decide where you want to place your energy next.

The flame can become a reminder of what you chose in this moment.

If you feel drawn to a deeper ritual, begin by creating space around yourself.

Place one hand over your heart and take a slow breath.

As you light your candle, imagine a clear white light above you. With each breath, visualise that light moving down through the crown of your head and towards your heart.

Now bring your awareness to the ground beneath you. Imagine energy rising from the earth through your feet — steady, grounding and strong.

Let the two meet at your heart.

Stay here for a moment.

Light above. Earth below. You’re in the middle.

Ask for clarity. Protection. Guidance. Whatever you need.

Then set your intention.

You don’t need to give it a name. Call it energy, prayer, manifestation, intuition, mindset — or simply something you feel.
